Back in 2008 I was following the struggle of the Detroit Big 3 automakers, and the successful resurrection after that, especially the GM, who shortly after that become the NR.1 automaker in the world once again. One particular commercial although caught my attention more than the rest, the Chrysler's Chrysler "Style" Commercial - Whatever Happened to Style? (Golden Globes 2011) . It is talking about that America had it, and it still has it , the potential to create something big , something outstanding again.

And here we go, two of the Big 3, the Ford and the GM latest flagships models: the Cadillac CT6 and the Lincoln Continental.

Two different approaches that could define the future of the American luxury sedan.

Both of them arriving in style, regaining the confidence.

The cabins are luxurious even though they are following different design lines. The Lincoln might have an advantage on the Cadillac CT6, which does not depart much from the status quo of Cadillac’s existing interior designs. The Continental with its blue Alcantara trim, generous use of leather and chrome, and extravagant features like 30-way adjustable rear seats is a hoot and a half.

In the Cadillac’s favor the new technologies, like a 34-speaker Bose surround-sound audio system, an enhanced self-parking system, a camera-screen rearview mirror, and a touchpad to operate the updated infotainment system.

Both of them use 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 engines. The Cadillac’s V-6 is part of a new engine line that will produce a new overhead-cam V-8, as is its less powerful, naturally aspirated V-6 available on less expensive trims.

Each one may appeal to a different kind of customer, but there is something similar in them, something poiting to a rebirtj of the american luxury sedan.
